Two NASA astronauts, Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore, are living on the International Space Station longer than planned. They were supposed to stay for just eight days, but now it's been five months! People on Earth started to worry about their diet, especially Williams' appearance in photos. But NASA says they're doing great.
So, what do they eat? A variety of foods like cereal with powdered milk, pizza, shrimp cocktails, roast chicken, and tuna. Fresh fruits and veggies are limited, replenished every three months, with freeze-dried or packaged ones filling the gaps.
Williams and Wilmore are both naval officers and former test pilots with lots of space experience. Williams has done seven spacewalks and ran a marathon in space! Wilmore was part of the team that made the first tool in space using a 3D printer.
Their Boeing Starliner capsule had some issues, so they're waiting for a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft to bring them home in early 2025. They're keeping busy with research, maintenance, and even planning to vote in the presidential election from space!
Despite the unexpected stay, they're positive about their experience. "It's very peaceful up here, " Williams said. "We're having a great time. "
