Azul airline cuts flights due to rising fuel costs amid ongoing global tensions

Brazilian airline Azul has decided to reduce its flight schedules further as fuel prices stay high because of persistent world conflicts. The company's leaders believe flying fewer times makes better financial sense now than keeping the same schedule. Earlier this year, Azul already trimmed some routes, mostly international ones, but now it’s looking closely at domestic flights too. Their plan isn’t to remove entire city routes right away, but to fly less often to major hubs like Campinas, Belo Horizonte, and Recife. This means passengers might see fewer daily trips to places like Curitiba, dropping from six flights to four on certain days. Fuel costs have nearly doubled in many cases, forcing airlines to rethink how much they use their planes. Running jets for long hours, like 13 or 14 hours a day, is no longer cost-effective when fuel eats up so much of the budget. Azul prefers to adjust flight numbers first before making drastic changes such as cutting cities entirely. Still, they haven’t ruled out reducing routes if the situation gets worse.
The upcoming months look tough for ticket prices, especially since travel demand usually drops during this time of year. Still, Azul expects things to improve later in the year as more people book flights during the third and fourth quarters. Higher fares might become more common if demand picks up, helping the airline recover some of the lost profits. Inside the company, leaders are watching the war situation closely. They admit they once hoped the conflict would end soon, but now they’re preparing for a longer stretch of high costs. By carefully adjusting their flight plans, Azul hopes to stay flexible and avoid big losses while waiting for better conditions.
