Storms are brewing in Northern B. C. ! Environment Canada has released a special weather warning for November 19th and 20th. A powerful 'bomb' cyclone is expected to hit Vancouver Island and the B. C. coast, bringing very windy conditions to the region. The areas affected include the South Okanagan, Nicola, Fraser Canyon, South Thompson, 100 Mile, Highway 97, Chilcotin, Cariboo, Prince George, Stuart-Nechako, Lakes District, Bulkley Valley, and Williston.
This low-pressure system is set to rapidly deepen later today, and then curve northward on Wednesday, staying offshore during the event. Winds are expected to start increasing through the afternoon, with the strongest gusts likely happening tonight. While the winds should ease by Wednesday evening, there's potential for damage, including fallen trees and power outages.
Residents should be ready for travel disruptions, especially on highways. Making sure outdoor items are secured is a good idea, as they could get blown away. For safety tips, check out Safety Canada's website. Environment Canada advises everyone to keep an eye on alerts and forecasts.
