Finally, after a long wait, Will Trent made a comeback on January 7, 2025. The show kicked off Season 3 with a bang, following the cliffhanger from Season 2 where Will left town after arresting Angie. This time, he wasn't too happy to return, but a special request from a suspect forced him to join the GBI again. The case got more interesting as the show progressed, but what really made an impression was the unique humor that sets Will Trent apart from other procedurals.
The laughs in this show aren't from non-stop jokes. Instead, they come from realistic situations that make you chuckle. For instance, Ormewood's nagging Faith to eat her crackers, Will's new life in Tennessee, and even the strong bond between Will and Betty. Faith's icy treatment of Will was also entertaining, knowing they'll patch things up soon. After all, the show can't progress with Will taking racy photos in Tennessee!
Will Trent stands out in the crime/procedural genre with its fun approach. While other shows like Law & Order and FBI are great, Will Trent brings something fresh. The Season 3 premiere seems to be the first part of a two-part episode. The promo for the next episode hints at Will getting hurt, physically and maybe even emotionally due to comments about his scruff. Luckily, he might be wearing a vest by then, following his previous refusal.
Catch new episodes of Will Trent every Tuesday at 8 p. m. ET on ABC, before High Potential at 9 p. m. ET and The Rookie at 10 p. m. ET. If you miss any episodes, you can always revisit them on Hulu.
