This recall comes from Wolverine Packing in Michigan. So, how did this happen? People in Minnesota got sick after eating the beef. Now, there are 15 reported cases. The meat was sold to restaurants around the U. S. from October 22 to November 4. But wait, what's E. coli? It's a type of bacteria often found in food, water, and animal intestines. Most aren't harmful, but some can make you really sick. Like the kind in this beef – E. coli O157:H7. This bad guy can cause kidney failure if not treated.You might be wondering how you get E. coli? It's usually from eating contaminated food or water, or by touching animals. Even though there are strict regulations for beef to prevent this, it still happens. E. coli infections are pretty common in the U. S. , with around 74, 000 cases a year. But in 2023, the numbers were a bit lower.
