Ben Crompton Takes the Helm of Global Entertainment at Fremantle
London, UKThu Mar 05 2026
Ben Crompton has stepped into a new role as the worldwide leader of entertainment for Fremantle, a major production house. He arrives from NBCUniversal, where he oversaw international unscripted shows, and previously ran U. S. operations for Lime Pictures, known for Netflix’s Dance Monsters and MTV’s True Lies. His background also includes senior positions at Warner Brothers Australia, Eyeworks, and ITV Studios in the U. K.
Crompton will start later this month and will report directly to Fremantle’s chief executive, Jennifer Mullin. In his welcome message, he praised the company’s reputation for creativity and expressed excitement about collaborating with its talented teams. He noted that Fremantle is famed for innovative formats and groundbreaking content, a sentiment he shares with the leadership.
He succeeds Andrew Llinares, who left after three years at the post. Mullin welcomed him as a “business‑savvy leader” who brings both creative insight and commercial strategy. She highlighted the company’s current momentum, pointing out that they are building on recent successes and pushing creative limits together.
The leadership change follows other key appointments: Jhamal Robinson was named head of U. S. productions, and Emily Knight became senior vice president of unscripted development. Earlier this year, Christian Vesper stepped down as CEO of Global Drama and Film after a decade in that role.
Fremantle, owned by Germany’s RTL Group, is among the world’s top independent producers. Its catalog includes popular formats such as Masked Singer, The X Factor, and Got Talent. Last year the company completed 345 commissions and produced 302 projects in 62 countries, underscoring its global reach.
