Berlin Talks: Zelenskyy Seeks Peace on Fair Terms

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in Berlin for crucial discussions with US and European leaders. The main goal? To find a way to stop the ongoing war with Russia. Notably, Russia isn't part of these talks. The US is pushing Ukraine to make a deal with Russia, but Ukraine wants peace that respects its dignity and sovereignty. Zelenskyy has been clear: Ukraine won't accept any agreement that doesn't honor its people and territory. Meanwhile, Russia has been attacking Ukraine hard. Just recently, over a million homes lost power after Russian strikes in the south. Ukraine also says Russia hit a Turkish ship in the Black Sea, which Zelenskyy calls a threat to global food security. In response, Ukraine has been targeting Russian oil facilities. This week alone, Ukraine struck an oil refinery and an oil depot inside Russia. Russia says it shot down many Ukrainian drones, but some still caused damage. Back in Germany, nearly half the people support using frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine. This is a big deal because Russia has a lot of money frozen in Europe. The idea is to use this money to support Ukraine, but Russia is against it. The talks in Berlin are important, but the challenges are huge. Ukraine and Russia have very different ideas about how to end the war. Ukraine wants security guarantees and to keep its land, while Russia wants concessions. The US plan includes big territorial giveaways, which Ukraine has rejected so far.
