Bill Maher Says Celebrities Should Zip It

Recently, comedian Wanda Sykes took a jab at him during the Golden Globes, where Maher was nominated for his HBO special "Is Anyone Else Seeing This? " In his special, Maher had some strong words about colleges, calling them "four-year daycare centers for the crybullies of the privileged. " He also mentioned that the left has changed, not him. Sykes, while presenting the award for Best Stand-Up Comedy Performance, said, "Bill Maher, you give us so much. But I would love a little less. "Ricky Gervais, who won the award for best stand-up comedy special, wasn't present at the ceremony. Sykes accepted the award on his behalf and thanked the "trans community, " which was seen as a dig at Gervais. His comedy had previously been labeled "anti-trans" by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). Maher had predicted he wouldn't win the award because of his willingness to criticize both sides. He said on his "Club Random" podcast, "I speak freely, and this woke town f---ing hates that. And that’s okay. I’ve made my peace with that. " In addition to Maher's special not winning, Joe Rogan's popular podcast "The Joe Rogan Experience" was notably left out of the Globes' new podcast category. Maher commented on this, saying, "It was typical and predictable and also ridiculous that Joe Rogan wouldn’t be nominated in a category that he dominates. " During a conversation with comedians Dana Carvey and David Spade on "Club Random, " Maher criticized the Globes for only nominating "super woke stuff. " He pointed out that Joe Rogan's podcast was notably absent from the nominations, despite its popularity.
