Mark Zuckerberg, the Meta chief, is buying a luxury house on Indian Creek Island near Miami, a private community that only has 41 lots and about 84 residents. The island is known for its exclusivity, with homes starting around $60 million and some selling for up to $200 million. Even an empty plot can fetch more than $100 million, showing how rare and valuable the land is.
The new property sits on the western side of the island, where lots are larger—about 80 000 square feet compared to 50 000 on the east. This side also offers better views of Biscayne Bay and sunsets, making it highly sought after by wealthy buyers. Jeff Bezos owns two lots on the same side and has been buying property there since 2023 after moving from Seattle to Florida.
Indian Creek Island operates like a small city with its own government and private police that patrol by air, water, and land. A single gated bridge controls access, ensuring privacy and security for residents. Inside, the community features an 18‑hole golf course and a country club that is difficult to join, requiring a $500 000 initiation fee.
Zuckerberg’s purchase is still pending final approval, but records show it listed under a land trust. His neighbor, Irma Braman, said he plans to move in by April. Meta has not yet responded to inquiries about the deal.
This move follows a trend of billionaires buying Florida homes amid proposed tax changes in California that could impose a 5 % “billionaires tax” on those worth over $1 billion. Zuckerberg still considers California his home base, having invested $50 million in a Sacramento downtown project. Other tech moguls, like Larry Page and Tom Brady, also own homes on the island.
Beyond Miami, Zuckerberg owns several high‑end properties across the U. S. : a sprawling 2 300‑acre ranch in Kauai, a mountain compound near Lake Tahoe, and multiple homes in Palo Alto’s Crescent Park. These assets reflect his growing real‑estate portfolio, which includes both private residences and strategic investment properties.
