Workers at Boeing's fighter jet plants have walked off the job. This is not the first time. It happened less than a year after Boeing gave raises to end another strike. Around 3, 200 workers from three plants in Missouri and Illinois said no to a new contract. They want better pay and working conditions.
The union, IAM, said workers are fed up. They build important planes and defense systems. They think they should get a fair deal. Boeing offered a 20% raise over four years. But workers said it's not enough.
Boeing knew this might happen. They have a plan to keep things running with non-striking workers. The company has had a tough time lately. Two of their 737 Max planes crashed, killing hundreds. Another plane, a Dreamliner, crashed in June.
Boeing's money problems are not over. They lost over $600 million last quarter. That's better than last year, but not great. Stock prices dropped a bit. Workers hope this strike will get Boeing to listen.
