Ready for a weather twist? A freeze warning just popped up for some counties in New Jersey and the Hudson Valley. Plus, parts of Connecticut are on a frost advisory. You'll want to grab your warmest jacket because temperatures might dip to 30 degrees from Wednesday to Thursday morning, as the National Weather Service alerted.
This isn't just a slight chill. Some northern New Yorkers in Dutchess and Ulster Counties have already felt the freeze this week. Winds, which can be pretty strong, could make it feel even colder. On Monday, they reached over 50 mph, but are expected to calm down to about 20 mph on Wednesday.
The usual October night temperature in Central Park is around the low 50s, but this Thursday it might be about 10 degrees colder. Frost and freezes can harm crops, sensitive plants, and unprotected outdoor plumbing. The National Weather Service suggests protecting your plants now.
Several Connecticut counties, including Northern Fairfield and Northern Middlesex, should expect these chilly conditions. Warnings are also out for Western Passaic County in New Jersey and Orange and Putnam Counties in New York. But don't worry, temperatures should rise back up to around 70 degrees by the weekend.
