Winter is not taking a break anytime soon. The weather alert is still active, warning of icy roads and freezing wind chills. Yesterday's snowfall was more than expected. The lake effect snow added extra inches, catching everyone off guard. Huron and Sanilac counties are still under a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 AM. More snow is possible, adding 1 to 3 inches before midday.
By afternoon, the snow showers should ease up. There might even be a brief break in the clouds. But don't get too excited. Temperatures will stay low, around the low 20s. The wind will make it feel even colder, with wind chills in the single digits.
The snow isn't done yet. More is on the way. A series of winter storms will bring more snow and colder air. Friday could see another 1 to 3 inches. Winds could gust over 30 MPH during MLK Day.
The cold isn't going away soon. Over the next two weeks, temperatures will stay below average. This weekend, highs will only reach the 20s. Early next week, wind chills could drop below zero. By Tuesday, highs might only hit the teens.
It's a good idea to stay prepared. Dress warmly and be careful on the roads. Winter is here to stay for a while.
