Brazil Senator Meets U. S. Leaders After Controversy

Flavio Bolsonaro, a Brazilian senator who is running for president, went to Washington after his latest scandal. He had already met President Trump in the Oval Office a day earlier. During his trip, Bolsonaro spoke with U. S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The talks covered several hot topics: fighting organized crime, securing rare earth minerals, and protecting freedom of speech.He also mentioned his father’s health, who is under house arrest for a coup plot and serving 27 years in prison. The meeting comes after Bolsonaro admitted to asking a jailed banker for money to finance a film about his father. He denies any wrongdoing, but the story hurt his popularity in recent polls. Still, he remains close to rival Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the race for a second‑round election. Lula himself has already met with Trump at the White House earlier this month.
