Usually, studies about breast cancer survivors (BCS) focus on either their diet or exercise habits separately. But our research wanted to know what they think about both, together. The COVID-19 pandemic changed everything, including how these survivors take care of their health. We need to understand their new challenges to help them stay well after the pandemic.
Before COVID-19, many BCS had their favorite foods and workouts. But the pandemic brought new problems. Some survivors found it hard to get healthy food or exercise safely. Others felt more stressed, which made it tougher to stick to good habits.
The pandemic also changed how health services worked. Some support groups moved online, which was great for some, but not for everyone. Some survivors missed the personal touch and found it harder to stay motivated.
Now, as things start to go back to normal, we need to think about what worked and what didn't. How can we help BCS stay healthy in the future? Maybe it's about finding new ways to connect, or making sure they have the right tools to stay active.
It's not just about the pandemic, though. BCS face unique challenges all the time. We need to keep learning and adapting to support them in the best way possible.
