Business Jet Flights Take Off in December

December saw a big jump in the number of business jet flights around the world. This came after a year where things were pretty steady. In North America, flights were up by 9%, while in Europe, they stayed about the same. Asia saw a 7% rise. Globally, there was a 7% increase compared to the same time last year and a 27% boost from the same time in 2019. The Asia-Pacific region had the biggest growth, with a 77% jump over five years. One week in December had 74, 688 business jet flights, which is 19% more than the same week in 2023. The end of the year also saw a 2% growth compared to 2023. In 2024, there were about 3. 6 million business jet flights, a slight dip from 2023 and 2022 but still much higher than during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fractional jet ownership did really well, with almost 700, 000 flights, the most in five years. Corporate flight departments had fewer flights, down by 11% compared to last year and 12% from 2019. Private flying was up by 15% in December compared to last year and 80% from 2019. Companies like FlyExclusive and NetJets saw big growth. Embraer had the most growth in business jet departures in the fourth quarter, up by 11%. Gulfstream and Bombardier also had increases, while Textron Aviation aircraft stayed the same.
