The economy was a hot topic this week. President Donald Trump gave a big speech about it. He said former President Joe Biden is to blame for high prices. But not everyone agrees. A recent poll shows only 33% of people approve of Trump's handling of the economy. Cartoonists had a field day with this. Phil Hands drew a funny take on "A Christmas Carol. " Tiny Tim asks Trump, who's playing Scrooge, about affordability. Trump's reply? "That's a hoax! Bah! Humbug! " Dana Summers showed Trump trying to sell a beat-up "affordability car. " Joey Weatherford highlighted Trump's promise of a $1, 776 bonus for service members.
Health care is another big issue. Subsidies under the Affordable Care Act are ending soon. Walt Handelsman drew an empty box labeled "Republican health care plan. " Pedro X. Molina, a new cartoonist, showed GOP Santa giving gifts to Mr. Monopoly while stepping on Uncle Sam. Molina's work is powerful. He fled Nicaragua due to government crackdowns on journalists. His cartoons have earned him many honors. He's a finalist for the 2024 Herblock Prize and the Vaclav Havel Award for Creative Dissent. Other news this week included Trump's comments about Rob Reiner, actions against Venezuela, a shooting at Brown University, and NFL quarterback Philip Rivers' comeback. Many cartoonists contributed to this week's gallery. They include Nick Anderson, Bill Bramhall, Walt Handelsman, and more.
