Did you know that your favorite Cappuccino Meltaway Bars might have a little surprise inside? Gardners Candies from Pennsylvania is recalling these bars because they could contain cashews that weren't listed on the label. This is a big deal for the 4 million Americans who are allergic to tree nuts. The company found out about this issue when they realized that some tree nuts had sneaked into the packaging without being mentioned. They quickly stopped making these bars to fix the problem. But don't worry, no one has gotten sick from eating them yet.
The recalled bars come in 1. 25-ounce packages with the lot number 082725 and an expiration date of August 27, 2025. They were sold in stores nationwide and online from September 1. Some were also packed in holiday boxes called Meltaway Treat Boxes with lot numbers 101625 or 112525. If you bought any of these bars, call Gardners' office to get a replacement. It's important to be careful because tree nut allergies can be very serious, even life-threatening. Around 1 in 100 people in the U. S. are allergic to tree nuts like almonds, cashews, and walnuts. If you have this allergy, always keep medicine like epinephrine with you.
