CBS Drops Shows to Make Room for Fresh Faces

New York City, USAFri Jun 12 2026
CBS is shaking up its lineup, sending four shows packing after years on air. The late-night chat king "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" leaves after a decade, while the medical drama "Watson" and comedy "DMV" – both newbies – are cut after just one or two seasons. Even the long-running sitcom "The Neighborhood" gets the boot after eight years. The network says it’s all about making space for fresh ideas, even if it means saying goodbye to familiar faces.
But all isn’t lost for CBS fans. Nineteen shows return this fall, including fan favorites like "NCIS, " the survival series "Survivor, " and the real-life crime solver "48 Hours. " One big win is the spin-off "Marshals, " which became the most-streamed CBS premiere ever with over 20 million viewers in its first week. Reality TV also gets a summer boost with "Big Brother" returning for its 28th season, promising more drama and even a milestone 1, 000th episode. New faces are joining the mix too. A reboot of "NCIS: New York" puts LL Cool J’s Sam Hanna back in action, this time in his hometown. There’s also "Cupertino, " a David-vs-Goliath story about a small lawyer taking on Silicon Valley, and "Eternally Yours, " a quirky vampire love story. Even Albert Einstein’s great-grandson gets a crime-solving gig in "Einstein. " Not bad for a network making room for the next big thing.
