As Election Day neared, Kamala Harris' campaign events buzzed with celebrities. Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, and Jon Bon Jovi were among the stars supporting Harris across the country. Pennsylvania saw a lineup that included Cedric the Entertainer, Katy Perry, and Ricky Martin. In Philadelphia, Oprah even invited first-time voters on stage.
Donald Trump, however, wasn't impressed. At his own rally, he criticized Harris' use of celebrities, particularly Beyoncé's appearance at a recent rally. Trump felt that Beyoncé's speech, not her performance, was a letdown. He suggested that Harris should have learned from Hillary Clinton's campaign and had Beyoncé speak after her.
Trump boasted about his campaign's policy-focused approach, claiming they don't need celebrities to draw crowds. Yet, he introduced former secretary of state Mike Pompeo and others as if they were celebrities.
Harris' campaign streamed a get-out-the-vote event featuring performers from seven battleground states. In Las Vegas, Christina Aguilera and Sofi Tukker performed. In North Carolina, Sugarland took the stage, and in Detroit, Jon Bon Jovi sang a quiet version of "Livin' on a Prayer. "
