Chiefs Star Wins Emmy for Football Docuseries

Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, has added a new trophy to his collection. He earned a Sports Emmy Award for being an executive producer of the Netflix series “Quarterback. ” The show, made with NFL Films and Omaha Productions, follows the lives of professional quarterbacks from game day to personal moments. The first two seasons featured players like Kirk Cousins, Marcus Mariota, Mahomes himself, Joe Burrow and Jared Goff. The upcoming third season will focus on Jayden Daniels, Baker Mayfield, Cam Ward and Joe Flacco.The award night saw the NFL grab eight Sports Emmy honors in total. NFL Films received a record 23 nominations, while other NFL brands also earned several nods. Mahomes’ win places him among a growing list of former players who have turned to media and entertainment, following the example set by Peyton Manning. Manning also won an Emmy this year for the same series and has a history of winning in the live‑series category with “The ManningCast. ” Other former players who have earned Emmy recognition include Eli Manning, Dan Orlovsky and the legendary John Madden.
