China has big plans for space exploration, stretching all the way to 2050. This includes a mission to grab a piece of the Venusian atmosphere. The Chinese Academy of Sciences, China National Space Administration, and China Manned Space Engineering Office announced these plans together. Their goal is to make China a major player in space science. The plan is divided into three stages. The first stage ends in 2027. It includes sending people to the moon by 2030, building a space station with a powerful telescope, and starting some important science projects. There's also a plan to detect gravitational waves and look for Earth-like planets outside our solar system.
The second stage, from 2028 to 2035, aims to do more advanced things. This includes sending a mission to Jupiter, exploring the edge of our solar system, building a research station on the moon, and collecting samples from Venus' atmosphere. The final stage, from 2036 to 2050, wants China to lead the world in space science. They plan to do this with a mix of big and small projects. One interesting part of the plan is the Venus atmosphere sample return mission. Instead of just orbiting Venus, China wants to go deeper into the atmosphere and bring back a sample. This could help us learn more about whether Venus could support life. China also has plans to bring back samples from Mars by 2031. China wants to work with other countries on these projects. They believe this will help everyone benefit from space science.
