A church caught up in a serious human trafficking and money laundering investigation is asking for millions in cash, precious metals, and fancy cars to be given back. The Kingdom of God Global Church says it should get its stuff back because, even though two of its leaders are in trouble, the church itself didn't do anything wrong. The church says the government took $4. 2 million from its bank accounts, along with silver bars, gold coins, and even a 2024 Rolls Royce. The church claims this is causing big problems for its operations and is interfering with its religious freedom.
Two leaders of the church, Pastor David Taylor and Executive Director Michelle Brannon, are facing serious charges. Taylor is accused of forcing people to work in call centers without pay, pretending to collect donations for good causes. He allegedly made victims cut ties with family and friends who questioned him or the church. Brannon is facing similar charges. The church's lawyer says the seized assets belong to the church and not the accused leaders. The lawyer argues that the government has no proof linking the bank accounts to any crimes. Taylor's lawyer says the charges are baseless and that everyone involved was exercising their religious freedom. He claims the people working for the church were there voluntarily and could leave anytime. Brannon's lawyer hasn't commented yet.
