The former U. S. Secretary of State is set to speak privately before a congressional group that is looking into the late Jeffrey Epstein. The meeting will happen on Thursday, but it is not clear how much fresh detail the Clintons will share.
Hillary Clinton has said she does not have much new information to offer and has criticized the committee, which is led by Republicans, for trying to pull attention away from President Donald Trump’s past connections with Epstein.
Both Hillary and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, initially declined to answer questions from the House Oversight Committee. They agreed to testify only after lawmakers threatened to hold them in contempt of Congress.
The deposition will take place at 11 a. m. ET (1600 GMT) in Chappaqua, New York, close to their home. Bill Clinton is scheduled to give his testimony at the same time on Friday. A spokesperson for the Clintons did not reply when asked for comments.
Committee chair James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, has promised that the transcripts of these interviews will be released to the public. He also noted that evidence collected so far does not link President Trump to Epstein’s crimes.
