Community Credit Union Gives Big Boost to Local Nursing School
Harrison, MI, USATue Mar 31 2026
Members First Credit Union has given a $75, 000 gift to Mid Michigan College in Harrison.
The money will build a new nursing laboratory on the college’s campus, which will carry the credit union’s name.
The lab will let students practice clinical skills with real equipment, help teachers plan lessons, and grow the program.
The nursing program at Mid Michigan College started in 1969.
Since then, more than 3, 500 students have earned diplomas and joined hospitals, clinics, and long‑term care centers around the area.
Enrollment has risen over 15 percent in the last three years, and more than four‑fifths of graduates stay to work locally.
The credit union’s CEO said the donation reflects its goal of building stronger communities.
Because it has a branch in Harrison, Members First wants to help the town’s future health workers.
The college foundation’s executive director noted that this partnership shows how local businesses can support education.
She added that the gift is part of a broader campaign called Rooted in Community, Growing for Tomorrow.
That campaign funds many projects on campus, such as new health‑science classrooms, trade‑school programs, a center for events, and improvements to the campus surroundings.
