Community Expo Turns Into a Family‑Friendly Hub

Hampden, MaineSun Apr 05 2026
RSU 22 Education Foundation turned its March 21 gathering into a lively mix of learning, fun and community bonding. The event drew more than 300 people to Hampden Academy, where local businesses, nonprofits and civic groups set up booths that sparked conversations all day. The organizers added a wellness zone, offering CPR lessons, “Stop the Bleed” demos and seatbelt safety talks that attracted families eager to learn practical skills. At the entrance, a partnership with Hampden Public Safety welcomed guests and set a friendly tone for the day. Kids were treated to a carnival run by RSU 22 students and school teams, who hosted games that kept children laughing and winning prizes. The student‑led activities doubled as a chance for the youngsters to practice leadership while having fun.
The Foundation’s aim was twofold: raise money for teacher mini‑grants and strengthen neighborhood ties. By combining business networking, health education and family entertainment, the expo became a place where people could connect, learn, and feel proud of their local community. A small but committed volunteer crew worked behind the scenes to make the vision real, while sponsors such as H. O. Bouchard, Bangor Daily News and Pulse Marketing supplied essential resources. The Foundation also thanked repeat vendors who returned after 2024, noting that their ongoing support added energy and continuity to the event. All proceeds—exceeding $8, 100—will fund mini‑grants that empower teachers to bring fresh ideas and resources into classrooms across RSU 22.
