Control Now Plays on iPhone and iPad

A new chapter opens for Remedy’s acclaimed title, Control, as the game becomes available on iOS devices. The full Ultimate Edition, which bundles the original release with the Foundation and AWE expansions, can be downloaded for only five dollars. This move brings a high‑profile AAA experience to the mobile platform, following a growing trend of big titles finding new life on phones and tablets. Control was first launched in 2019 to wide praise, earning a spot among the year’s best games and a nomination for Game of the Year. It belongs to the same universe as the horror series Alan Wake, a fact Remedy has confirmed over time. Since then, the studio has expanded Control’s reach to newer consoles and even Macs, but mobile had remained out of sight until now. Other developers have already paved the way. Capcom has released several Resident Evil titles on iOS, and Ubisoft added Assassin’s Creed Mirage to the platform. Even Kojima’s Death Stranding is playable on iPhones and iPads, showing that complex titles can be adapted for handheld use. Remedy’s entry into this space signals a broader industry shift toward mobile compatibility.
The Switch community, however, still feels left out. Control can only be streamed on Nintendo’s handhelds; a fully native version has yet to arrive, leaving fans hoping for future support. The fact that the game now runs on iOS may give developers confidence to eventually bring a native build to Switch as well. Looking ahead, the possibility of other Remedy titles joining mobile is intriguing. Alan Wake, with its slower pacing compared to Control’s fast combat, could translate well to smaller screens. Alan Wake 2, which achieved critical success in 2023, would add a fresh experience for mobile players if released on iOS. Remedy’s next big project, Control Resonant, promises a shift in gameplay focus to melee combat and follows Jesse Faden’s brother. While its release is set for 2026, the company may consider mobile options once more. For now, players on PC and consoles can anticipate its arrival later this year, while those who want to dive into Control now have an additional platform at hand.
