Cool Day Ahead for Central New York
Central New York, USAWed May 27 2026
Central New York is set to feel a chill as a dry cold front rolls in on Wednesday. The sky will stay partly sunny, with temperatures climbing into the mid‑70s before the front arrives in the late afternoon. A brief shower or thunderstorm could appear, but there isn’t much moisture to fuel a big storm.
Nighttime temperatures will drop into the low 50s, a clear shift from recent warmth. Thursday’s highs will be in the mid‑to‑upper 60s, though higher hills may stay below 60. A single shower is still possible on Thursday night, with lows falling into the upper 40s to around 50.
Friday will bring a strong low pressure system that moves south, keeping most rain east of the area. A few isolated showers could develop in the afternoon, but the bulk of moisture stays away. Saturday will feel another burst of cool Canadian air; highs stay in the mid‑60s and winds gust up to 25 mph. Night temperatures will dip into the upper 40s, with valley spots cooling into the upper 30s.
Temperatures will stay below normal through early next week. Sunday and Monday highs reach the upper 60s to low 70s, inching toward typical values by Tuesday. Even though there isn’t a major moisture source, occasional showers may still pop up due to the cool air aloft.
