You might know Sundance Head from winning NBC's "The Voice" in 2016. Well, this country singer just had a scary experience at his East Texas ranch. While on a hunting trip, he accidentally shot himself in the stomach. It happened when he was leaning into his vehicle to grab his . 22 caliber pistol. The gun slipped out of its holster and fell onto the exterior of the vehicle, going off and hitting him.
Luckily, Sundance wasn't severely injured. He was airlifted to a hospital in Tyler, just east of Dallas. Doctors said he didn't hit any vital organs, so he didn't need surgery. He was released later that day. Sundance has some upcoming shows in Texas and Illinois, so hopefully, he'll be back on stage soon.
Sundance is no stranger to talent competitions. Before "The Voice, " he was on Fox's "American Idol" in 2007, making it to the top 16. He's from Porter, a community north of Houston.
Accidents like this remind us how important it is to handle firearms safely. Even if you think you know what you're doing, things can go wrong. It's a good idea to always treat guns as if they're loaded and never point them at something you don't intend to shoot.
