Crime 101 Debuts on Prime Video April 1

Mon Mar 30 2026
Amazon MGM Studios’ new crime‑film, directed by Bart Layton and written by the same creator, will be available for streaming on Prime Video beginning Wednesday, April 1. The release follows a 47‑day period between its theatrical debut and the streaming launch, which is noticeably longer than the roughly 30‑day window that the holiday film Red One experienced. The movie, which features Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbara, Corey Hawkins, Nick Nolte and Jennifer Jason Leigh, opened in theaters on February 13. It earned $14. 2 million over its first three days and received a high approval rating of 89 % from Rotten Tomatoes critics, along with a “B” grade on CinemaScore. The film’s production cost of $90 million was recovered with a domestic gross of $36. 4 million and a worldwide total of $71. 7 million.
Crime 101 is adapted from Don Winslow’s novella and follows a slick jewel thief, played by Hemsworth, who conducts a series of daring heists along the 101 freeway. His latest target is an ultimate score that puts him at odds with a disenchanted insurance broker, portrayed by Berry, and a determined detective, played by Ruffalo. As the heist nears, the boundaries between hunter and hunted blur, forcing each character to confront pivotal life decisions. Amazon MGM Studios recently released Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, which became the studio’s highest‑grossing film since acquiring MGM. The sci‑fi movie topped $300 million worldwide, highlighting the company’s growing influence in both theatrical and streaming markets.
