Crime Calls Drop in Framingham, Police Report

Framingham, Massachusetts, USAThu Mar 05 2026
Framingham police officials have released new data that shows a small decline in emergency calls and arrests compared to the previous month. In February, officers answered 3, 024 urgent requests for help and carried out 60 arrests, while also issuing 64 summonses. The numbers were higher in January, with 3, 554 calls, 97 arrests and only 50 summonses. The trend continues from earlier months: December saw 3, 698 calls and 63 arrests, and November recorded 3, 467 calls with 86 arrests. Over the past year, the city’s figures have fluctuated but overall suggest a modest easing in crime activity.
Framingham ranks 45th out of all Massachusetts towns and cities for crime rates, according to the latest FBI statistics. The city experiences about 1, 382 crimes per 100, 000 residents, a level comparable to nearby Medford. The highest rate in the state belongs to Holyoke, which reports 5, 291 crimes per 100, 000 people. Boston sits seventh with 2, 652 crimes per 100, 000. With a population near 73, 000, Framingham’s crime numbers reflect both its size and local policing efforts. The slight drop in calls could signal improved community relations, better deterrence strategies, or simply a normal monthly variation. The police department plans to keep monitoring the data closely. By tracking calls, arrests and summonses each month, officials hope to identify patterns that can guide future resource allocation and public safety initiatives.
