Crypto Prices Could Rise a Lot Next Year

Matt Hougan, the chief investment officer at Bitwise, said on a June talk that crypto might be heading into a period where people are getting tired of the current slump. He thinks Bitcoin could fall to about $30, 000 if a four‑year cycle repeats, but he does not see that as the most likely path. He added that many traders who expect a bear market think it will end around $50, 000. Hougan believes the market could climb higher in a year, though he is unsure where it will bottom. His short‑term tools—like the 10/20 and 5/20 day signals—still point to a bearish trend.
Despite this weakness, conversations about crypto are still lively in institutions. Hougan noted he had more sales calls that day than any other single day this year, even though institutional activity usually slows in August. Most big investors still focus first on Bitcoin, then Ethereum, Solana, stablecoins, and tokenization. They are less aware of newer digital assets. Hougan says the best chances in crypto arise when sentiment is washed out, major bulls step back, and the market feels uneasy. Regulatory uncertainty keeps money on the sidelines, pushing investors toward AI stocks instead. “The market hates uncertainty more than bad news, ” he said. He hopes clarity will come after the CLARITY Act is passed.
