Marriage can be like a dance, and for Georgie and Mandy, it's a hot tango. The new CBS comedy, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, kicks off with a bang. In just a few minutes, the show reveals an exciting opening scene where the stars, Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, dance a passionate tango. This isn’t any ordinary dance. It’s meant to show the ups and downs of their fiery relationship, according to co-creator Steve Holland.
“We wanted something interesting and eye-catching,” Holland said. The tango idea came from his colleague, Steve Molaro, who’s been part of the Big Bang Theory franchise. Molaro thought the tango would perfectly capture the passion and struggle in Georgie and Mandy’s relationship. It’s not just about the love; it’s also about the fights and the fire between them.
Emily Osment admits she was scared at first. “There was fear, then excitement,” she shared. Luckily, they worked with professional choreographers from Dancing With the Stars, Jonathan and Oksana Platero. Montana Jordan, on the other hand, was new to tango dancing. “I’ve two-stepped in Texas, but never tangos,” he laughed. “Now, I’m glad I’ve learned it. ”
Choosing the right setting was key. They decided the tango should happen in their home, not on a stage. This made it more interesting, with a domestic background and special lighting. The director of photography, Buzz Feitshans IV, did a fantastic job. They even smoked up the stage and used colorful lights, making it look amazing.
Even the wardrobe was a big deal. Montana Jordan wanted to wear cowboy boots, but the producers weren’t sure. In the end, they let him, adding a unique touch to the dance.
