Dark Actions Behind a Rising Pop Star’s Rise
Los Angeles County, USAThu Apr 30 2026
The story starts with the shocking claim that an indie pop singer, 21‑year‑old David Burke, known as D4vd, may have committed a brutal murder. Prosecutors argue that he killed a teenage girlfriend and then used extreme measures to hide the crime.
The evidence points to a series of calculated steps. Burke allegedly bought an inflatable pool, two chainsaws and other tools under a fake name online. He placed the victim’s body in the pool to keep blood from spilling onto his garage floor, then used a chainsaw and possibly other implements to dismember her.
Police found the victim’s torso and head in a cadaver bag inside the trunk of Burke’s Tesla. Inside the bag were plastic bags that held her severed limbs, and two fingers on her left hand had been removed. The finger bearing a tattoo of Burke’s name was never recovered.
The car was abandoned near his home on July 29, 2025. Weeks later it was towed and smelled of decay, prompting authorities to investigate. The investigators also uncovered blood samples and pool remnants in his garage.
Prosecutors suggest a motive tied to the victim’s jealousy. They claim she threatened to expose their relationship and potentially ruin Burke’s music career, which was about to launch a new album. Texts recovered from the couple discuss sexual content and abortion, indicating an abusive dynamic that began when she was 11.
According to the court filing, Burke drove her in an Uber on April 23, 2025, after a fight over her threats. He allegedly stabbed her to death upon arrival and then carried out the dismemberment and disposal.
The case has raised questions about how a young artist can rise to fame while allegedly committing violent crimes. Burke’s popularity grew after viral TikTok videos, leading to a record deal and a Coachella appearance. He denies all charges.
Defence attorney Blair Berk has maintained that the evidence does not prove Burke’s guilt and argues he should be acquitted.
