Decoding Sports: How Video Action Recognition is Changing the Game

Understanding human actions through video is a popular method, and it offers a lot more info than just images. Over the past decade, many researchers have been busy creating datasets, new models, and learning approaches to make video action recognition better, especially in sports. But there are still challenges. In sports, actions can be really fast, and figuring out who's doing what in team sports like football or basketball can be tough.We're going to look at more than ten types of sports, both team and individual, and see how video action recognition is used. We'll compare different frameworks for sports analysis and talk about the problems that need solving. To make things easier, we've even created a toolbox using PaddlePaddle to help with action recognition in sports like football, basketball, table tennis, and figure skating.
