Denver Women’s Soccer Team Secures Future Stadium Land

Denver, Colorado, USATue Mar 31 2026
A new chapter begins for Denver women’s soccer as the club lands a 14‑acre plot in Santa Fe Yards, poised to become Colorado’s first stadium dedicated to female professional sports. The site sits where the old Gates Rubber factory once stood, at Broadway and Interstate 25, and will host a mixed‑use hub with homes, restaurants, and easy bike access. The project is a joint effort between the club, the City of Denver, and international design firm Populous. The goal is to open in spring 2028 with a 14, 500‑seat arena that can grow later for bigger events. City officials plan to invest up to $70 million, while the team commits about $200 million for construction. A federal grant of $25 million may fund a pedestrian bridge linking the stadium to nearby transit.
Earlier this year, the club set up its headquarters in Mercantile Square and played its first National Women’s Soccer League match, drawing a record 63, 000 fans for a 0‑0 draw at Mile High Stadium. That win showed the community’s appetite for women’s soccer and gave momentum to the stadium push. Mayor Mike Johnston praised the effort, noting how the project will benefit South Broadway and neighboring businesses. The city council’s recent approval of $50 million for land purchase cleared the way for further development and improved pedestrian routes. The stadium will host 40 to 50 ticketed events annually, plus up to 250 informal gatherings. It aims to become a vibrant entertainment district that supports the city’s growing sports culture and offers lasting value for residents.
