The Ponca Nature Center on Arkansas 43 offers a free geology lesson at 1:30 p. m. on Wednesdays, letting kids and adults explore the state’s rock layers through hands‑on activities. A bass fishing contest for veterans starts at 5:45 a. m. Saturday in Prairie Creek Park; teams pay $80 before Thursday or $100 on the day, with prizes up to $1, 500 for the biggest catch. Bird watchers can join the Northwest Arkansas Audubon Society on Saturday at 8 a. m. for a hike in the Walton Nature Preserve, where warblers and other upland birds thrive; no membership is needed. On June 10, the Watershed Resource Conservation Center will teach residents how to identify and remove invasive plants at the Fayetteville Public Library, with plans for protecting riparian zones.
