Dreibelbis Farm Historical Society is throwing a cool party on February 7th. They're showing off how Pennsylvania Germans used to harvest ice back in the day. It's happening from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. If the weather's nice, they'll even cut ice blocks from the pond. There will be two presentations, one at 1:45 PM and another at 2:30 PM. Don't worry if the ice is too thin, they'll still show you the tools and techniques.
There's more than just ice cutting. They've got a bonfire, homemade soup, hot chocolate, and marshmallows for toasting. You can explore the farm grounds and nature trail. Horse-drawn wagon rides are available for a small fee. If there's enough snow, they'll use a sleigh instead.
This event is free and happens rain or shine. Only blizzards or heavy rain will cancel it. Dress warm and be ready to walk on unpaved, possibly icy or muddy paths. Parking is free behind the Virginville Grange, and shuttles are available.
This is the first of many events in 2026. They've got a Winter Nature Walk, Native American Spring Celebration, frog hunts, wildflower walks, and a Historic Farm Festival planned. Check their website or Facebook page for more info.
