Dolly Parton Pulls Out of Las Vegas Show, Shares Health Update
USA, Las VegasTue May 05 2026
The country icon Dolly Parton has decided not to go ahead with her planned Las Vegas residency. She told fans that health problems are making it hard for her to perform at the usual high energy level. Parton said she feels “swimmy headed” after taking medicine, a phrase she jokes about from her grandmother. She added that the weight of her costumes and instruments would make anyone feel the same way.
Parton is 80 years old and has spoken about her kidney stones for many years. She explained that her immune and digestive systems have been out of balance over the past three years, but doctors say everything is treatable. She remains optimistic about getting better.
Although the Las Vegas shows are off, Dolly is still busy with other projects. She is working on opening a museum and hotel in Nashville. Her Broadway musical, “Dolly: A True Original Musical, ” is set to open later this year in New York. These plans keep her creative energy alive even while she rests.
The residency was originally scheduled for December, then moved to September before being cancelled. Parton had also postponed a launch event at her Dollywood park because of kidney stone complications that led to an infection. She told fans in a video that she was not “dead yet” and would keep working.
Fans are left with the hope that Dolly will recover fully. She has not toured since 2016 but continues to perform occasionally. Her positive outlook and ongoing projects give her fans something to look forward to beyond the Las Vegas stage.
