Remedy Entertainment has revealed their next big project: Control: Resonant. This game is set to hit shelves in 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S. It's not just a simple follow-up to the original Control. This time, players won't be stepping into the shoes of Jesse Faden. Instead, they'll be playing as her younger brother, Dylan.
Dylan's story takes place seven years after the events of the first game. He was taken by the Federal Bureau of Control at just 10 years old. After being affected by The Hiss, he ended up in a coma. Now, The Hiss has escaped The Oldest House and spread throughout Manhattan. The city has become a strange and twisted place, filled with supernatural forces.
The gameplay in Control: Resonant is also different. Instead of using Jesse's transforming Service Weapon, Dylan will wield a crude, transforming melee weapon called the Aberrant. This weapon will be enhanced by Dylan's supernatural abilities. The combat style is fast-paced and proactive. Players will need to master the combination of weapon blows and supernatural abilities. Dylan is agile and quick on his feet, making movement a key part of the combat loop.
Preparation and tactical thinking are crucial. Players will need to create builds that suit their playstyle. There are various progression systems that allow for versatility and strength. Side quests and other factions will also be part of the experience. Enemies will have paranormal attacks and can traverse the environment as quickly as players can.
Remedy Entertainment assures that players don't need to have played the first Control to understand the story. The two games are described as siblings, each with their own unique journey. Creative director Mikael Kasurinen promises that Control: Resonant is not a safe sequel. It's a bold new direction for the franchise.
