Recording a phone call on your iPhone just got easier with iOS 18. 1. Before this update, you had to use third-party apps because the Phone app didn’t have built-in recording. Now, you can do it directly in the Phone app. This feature works on any iPhone that can run iOS 18. 1. Just remember, not all countries allow call recording. If you’re in the European Union, for example, you’re out of luck. Also, transcription is only available in certain languages like English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and Korean. Even though your iPhone announces the recording to both parties, make sure you know your local laws about call recording. Sometimes, you need permission from the other person.
To record a call, tap the waveform icon on the call screen. You’ll see a countdown, and when it’s done, the call starts recording. You can end the recording with the red End Call button or the red recording button in the audio visualizer. If you want to turn off this feature, go to the Phone settings in the Settings app, select Call Recording, and toggle it off. All your recorded calls are stored in the iOS 18. 1 Notes app, with their own transcripts if available. If your iPhone supports Apple Intelligence, you can even get a summary of your calls.
