Muscatine, Iowa, USATue Jun 02 2026
The police were first alerted to a house on Park Avenue around noon, where they discovered four victims who had been shot. The suspect was identified as Ryan Willis McFarland, a 52‑year‑old resident of Muscatine. He escaped the scene but was later found on Riverfront Trail near a pedestrian bridge, where he ended his own life while speaking with officers.
Further searches revealed two additional shooting victims: one inside a home on Mill Street and another in the 800 block of Grandview Avenue. All six deceased are believed to be members of McFarland’s family, indicating a domestic dispute at the core of the tragedy. The investigation is being carried out by Muscatine Police, with support from the Fire Department, County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and the Division of Criminal Investigation. The case remains open; anyone with information is urged to contact detectives at 563‑263‑9922.
