Ever thought about how feminism and mental health get along? It's not always a smooth ride. Feminism has been trying to make sense of women's mental health, and sometimes it's a bumpy road. On one hand, there's neurodiversity, which is like saying, "Hey, different brains are normal! " And on the other hand, mental health often gets labeled as "something's wrong. " Feminist theories have been wrestling with this, trying to figure out if mental health issues are just the patriarchy's fault.
Take autism, for instance. It's not a mental illness, but it sure shows how society treats women with different brains. Autistic women face a lot of exclusion, and sadly, even some feminist ideas can leave them out. So, how can we make feminism more inclusive? Looking at how the UK, USA, and other English-speaking countries handle this, we see that feminist theories need a refresher. We should be talking about different brain experiences without just labeling them as problems. It's time to make feminism a safer space for all women, including those with neurodivergent minds.
