Fighting Stunting in East Lombok: A Smart Approach

In the heart of Indonesia, East Lombok is facing a big challenge: stunting. This condition, where kids don't grow as they should, is a serious issue. The numbers are alarming, with almost 12. 7% of children affected in West Nusa Tenggara, where East Lombok is located. A recent study focused on six villages in East Lombok, using a smart mix of education and technology. The goal? To stop stunting in its tracks. The team behind this project didn't just look at health and nutrition. They also considered psychology, education, and even religion to create a well-rounded plan.The plan included five key areas: motivation, hygiene, nutrition, mental health, and infant health. These were chosen to cover all the important needs for a child's growth. The study measured the height and weight of 3, 416 children under five, first in February 2024 and then again in August 2024. The results were promising. Denggen Village showed significant improvements. The educational interventions were effective, with some areas showing big, noticeable changes. Plus, the machine learning models used to predict future cases were highly accurate. This approach could be a game-changer. It shows that by combining different fields and using smart technology, we can tackle stunting effectively. The key is to pay attention to all aspects of a child's growth and development.
