This year's SAG Awards nominations announcement, planned to happen live at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles, has been canceled due to the ongoing wildfires in the area. Instead of a live event, the nominees will be revealed via a press release on January 8 at 7:30 PT. The decision was made to prioritize the safety of presenters, guests, and staff. The event was going to be quite the star-studded affair, with Fran Drescher set to open the ceremony, Kristen Bell as the host, and Joey King and Cooper Koch announcing the nominees. Jane Fonda was also due to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.
These cancellations come as no surprise, considering the devastating fires affecting the west side of Los Angeles. Several other Hollywood events have also been called off. Universal and Amazon MGM Studios have both canceled their premieres of "Wolf Man" and "Unstoppable, " respectively, while Paramount has canceled its premieres of "Better Man" and "The Pitt. "
The Screen Actors Guild has expressed their commitment to celebrating the nominated actors and their work at the SAG Awards ceremony on February 23. For now, they urge everyone to stay safe and thank them for their continued support.
It's important to consider the impact of natural disasters on our daily lives and events. While it's disappointing that these events have been canceled, safety should always be the top priority.
