In a recent incident, retired Super Bowl champion Jason Kelce apologized after a heated exchange with a fan. The event took place outside a stadium where Penn State and Ohio State were playing. Kelce was there for ESPN's "College GameDay" as part of Pat McAfee’s Kicking Contest. A video shows a fan directing a homophobic slur at Kelce regarding his brother Travis, who is dating Taylor Swift. In response, Kelce grabbed someone's cellphone and threw it to the ground. He also repeated the slur back to the person.
"I'm not proud of what happened, " Kelce admitted on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown. ” He acknowledged that he reacted with hate when faced with hate, which he doesn't believe is productive. Kelce aims to live by the golden rule, treating others with decency and respect. Penn State’s head coach, James Franklin, expressed disappointment about the incident. "I wanted him to have a wonderful experience, " Franklin said. "I saw something I wasn’t very proud of. " The Penn State Police are still investigating the matter.
