Gaza: Aid Dilemma Sparks US Intervention

The flow of aid into Gaza has hit an all-time low since the recent conflict began, according to UN data. Only 836 aid trucks have managed to enter the strip this month. Before the war, around 500 trucks filled with aid and trade goods would enter daily. Israel's COGAT agency reports that while dozens of trucks enter Gaza each day, hundreds are stuck waiting inside the territory. For instance, on Wednesday, 670 aid trucks were reported as "waiting for collection. "In October, just 24, 000 tons of aid have entered Gaza, a significant drop from the peak of 137, 000 tons in April. It's important to note that UN and COGAT often have differing figures because they count trucks differently. COGAT counts trucks arriving at its crossings, while UN agencies count those inside Gaza ready for distribution. The Biden administration recently wrote to the Israeli government, urging them to improve Gaza's humanitarian situation within 30 days. The letter hinted that US military aid could be at risk if the situation doesn't improve, prompting a push for a ceasefire.
