Medical professionals should be including a whole new element in their training. This element is about working with anyone who has an intellectual disability. We do not want any individuals to be left behind in the medical field.

In this case, the people who are receiving care should be involved in educating those who are taking care of them. Is this not the best way to completely understand what the patients need?
Putting the right care and into place is critical. We have to be teaching those that are in the medical field. This includes doctors and it includes the family of the patients. The changes should start straight away sothere is no long gap before progress is made. Having the right tools is very important.
Families of these individuals have new ideas about getting the care that is needed. They have a plan to do just that. Traditional ways of processing data does not work for everyone. It is important to use many different ways to improve care. Of course,it is well known that videosincludes all of this. Thanks to the many tools that are now available, there are new tools that will be available. Yet, why isn't it enough? Why should we be doing more?
While having a say in their genetic health is important for those with intellectual disabilities,it is clear that the carethey receive is simply not up to the standards of that of many others. It is really that simple.
That is why we need to keep on talking about it with the medical professionals we know. We expect that the conversation will continue to grow. But until now, there is a lot more work to be done.
People with intellectual disabilities need to be treated with dignity and care. It needs to be done at an early age. This should be the start of a lifelong journey that does not end at the beginning.
