Germany is not happy with Russia right now. They've called in the Russian ambassador to have a serious chat. Why? Because Germany thinks Russia has been up to no good with cyberattacks, spying, and spreading fake news.
This isn't just a small issue. It's part of a bigger problem in Europe. Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, there's been a lot of worry about Russian hackers and spies causing trouble.
Germany has some specific examples. In August 2024, there was a big cyberattack on their air traffic control. They say a group called APT-28, also known as Fancy Bear, was behind it. This group is backed by the GRU, which is Russia's military intelligence agency.
But that's not all. Germany also says there have been attempts to mess with their elections. They blame a group called Storm-1516 for this. This group has been seen before, trying to influence the 2024 U. S. presidential election.
So, what's next? Germany is still deciding what to do. They might take more diplomatic or policy actions. But for now, they've made it clear they're watching Russia closely.
Russia, of course, says these accusations are not true. They've denied these claims before. But Germany isn't backing down. They're serious about protecting their country from these threats.
