Upstate New York is in for a wet and windy Halloween. A big storm is coming, bringing lots of rain and strong winds. This might make trick-or-treating a bit messy.
The weather folks say it will rain a lot on Thursday and Friday. They expect 1 to 2 inches of rain all over the place. The storm will calm down by Friday night, but it will still be rainy and windy when kids go out for treats.
Winds could get really strong, up to 35 mph in the late afternoon and evening. This means it will feel colder, with temperatures in the mid-30s. There might even be some flooding on the streets, but it's not likely to be too bad.
The rain will keep going all weekend. Days will be in the upper 40s, and nights will be in the upper 30s. This rain is good news because Upstate New York has been very dry lately. Many areas are still in a drought.
Some places, like Buffalo, are almost 9 inches below normal rain for the year. Syracuse is also behind, with 4. 5 inches less rain than usual. So, while the Halloween weather might not be perfect, the rain is helping with the drought.
