A big event is coming up for anyone who cares about their heart. The 15th Annual Heart Forum by El Camino Health is happening on Saturday, February 7. It's free and packed with useful info. Doctors will talk about the latest in heart care. There will be hands-on sessions, a demo on cooking heart-healthy meals, and a personal story from someone who improved their heart health. The goal is to help people take control of their heart health in a balanced way. They'll also show easy and fun ways to stay active every day.
You can join in person or online. If you go in person, there's a health fair from 8:30 to 10 a. m. at Graham Theater in Mountain View. The main event runs from 10 a. m. to 12:30 p. m. both in person and online. Make sure to register at the link provided.
In other news, the Santa Clara County Firesafe Council got a big grant. They received $220, 000 for projects to make Los Trancos Road safer from wildfires. The road runs between Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. The money is from a state grant for 2025. The projects will create a buffer along the road to stop fires from spreading to the wildland. They'll also treat hazardous trees to protect the Los Trancos Creek Watershed.
The Firesafe Council is working with Fire Safe San Mateo County on this. For the parts of Los Trancos Road in Palo Alto, they teamed up with Palo Alto's Foothills Fire Management Team. They've already done fuels reduction work in Portola Valley. The project covers 6. 1 miles of road, from the intersection of Los Trancos and Alpine roads to where Los Trancos Road becomes Vista Verde/Ramona Road.
